TUESDAY JUNE 15, 2010
The Annual Polis Conference will take place this year in Dresden on 25 and 26 November 2010. The topic of this year’s conference is “Innovation in transport for sustainable cities and regions”.
Innovation in transport for sustainable cities and regions
The Annual Polis Conference provides an opportunity for cities and regions to showcase their transport achievements to a large audience and for the wider transport community to engage with representatives of city and regional authorities on innovative transport solutions. The conference offers a mix of high-level plenary sessions, with prominent figures debating topical issues, and a wide selection of technical sessions on innovative topics identified by Polis members.
The main driving themes of this conference range from local to global; they are climate change and the local transport response, the impact of a (global) economic downturn on local transport services, and the vision and political ambition that is required to face these challenges and to maintain innovation.
The 2010 event will be hosted by the City of Dresden under the auspices of the Mayor of Dresden and Polis President, Helma Orosz. The beautiful City of Dresden does not only have a heart for culture, science and for modern European sustainable mobility, but is also situated in the heart of Europe. Whether you come by train, bus, car or plane, the capital of the Freestate of Saxony looks forward to welcoming you from all directions. Once you are in Dresden, you will be able to experience the efficient transport network that the city has to offer.
All this is based on the "Dresden Mobility strategy", which brings together in an integrated planning approach four main aspects of urban transport policy: urban development and transport, transport infrastructure, transport management and mobility management. Dresden looks forward to sharing with you more information on this approach and its many other transport achievements.
